Fredericksburg is a charming and ever-growing city. Its downtown stretches along a lively strip of bars, restaurants, and boutique shops. You can find bits of history at every turn.
This food and cocktail bar guide highlights some of the best spots to visit and experience while you’re here. With so much to see and taste, I recommend spending at least a full day. If possible, spend an entire weekend to truly savor everything downtown Fredericksburg has to offer. While the surrounding area has plenty of hidden gems, this guide focuses on the heart of it all: the can’t-miss favorites right in the downtown district.

Restaurants
Best for Breakfast & Lunch

Best for Dinner

Best for Desserts on the Go
Italian ice can be enjoyed on its own or you can also have it served with Prosecco. Alternatively, get a glass of bubbly like champagne from Veuve Clicquot.

Liquor filled boxed chocolates, truffles, and wine filled chocolates are available. This shop is a further walk from where most of the shopping is, but it is well worth the walk. Have a taste and try an assortment of chocolates to take home.

Cocktail Bars
A great stop for bar bites and cocktails, an elevated atmosphere and unique design. Try their smoked old fashioned!

A cocktail lounge with a lovely courtyard and bar where one will be surrounded by art. Selections for cocktails are vast and wonderfully crafted. Great selections for drinks with friendly service.

Shopping

My Sister’s Corner is a boutique shop with Italian linen options. It is a small and wonderful shop to find trinkets. You can also find your next outfit to tour the wineries here.
Vaudeville is more than a showroom for luxury items. It is also a staircase down to a bistro. It is a place worth stepping in for supper and exploring all this beautiful building has to offer.
Notable Feature:
The Pharmacy
The Pharmacy is new to the scene but it is already an absolute favorite spot to sit down and refresh. Enjoy handcrafted coffee drinks, bakery treats, and even wines to take home.
Hidden Gem
Inside the National Museum of the Pacific War you’ll come to see this treasure of serenity. Take a step back from the noise of downtown and walk or sit for a while.

There’s so much more to see and discover in downtown Fredericksburg. This is just a glimpse of all the experiences waiting for you. Think of this as part one of a local guide. It covers what to do, see, taste, and sip not only downtown but beyond. More to discover in the works.
Cheers!
